"Bastion" (バスティオン Basution) is an archetype of cards with "Bastion" in their card names exclusive to the Keter Sanctuary nation, first introduced in D Start Deck 03: Tohya Ebata -Apex Ruler-. These cards represent forms of the leader of the Cloud Knights.
Background[]
Captain of the Cloud Knights Heavenly Brigade, as well as the owner of the holy sword. Fully covered in shining armor himself, his mount is also similarly armored. Supposedly from the human race, but nobody knows his age. The face of the law-enforcing Cloud Knights, his judgement is just and strict, and his orders absolute. He commands both respect and awe from brigade members and the populace alike.
Playstyle[]
Serving as the first Ride Line for Keter Sanctuary, all iterations of Bastion focus their gameplay around grade 3 units with the original card, Apex Ruler, Bastion being able to [Stand] a rear-guard and increase its [Power]
at the end of a battle where a grade 3 card was revealed in the drive check. This skill when paired with the naturally higher offensive stats of a grade 3 unit and Bastion's other skill which sees all of the players grade 3 units receive an additional [Power]
+2000 offers the deck impressive offense namely when going first.
Bastion in time would receive a grade 4 unit in Apex-surpassing Sword, Bastion Prime who doubles down on the originals earlier skills by being able to [Stand] all grade 3 rear-guards on the player's field and increase their [Power]
at the end of a battle where a grade 3 card was revealed by drive check, allowing for an especially devastating turn to close out the fight. The 2nd grade 3 iteration of Bastion, Sword of the Nation, Bastion Accord prevents the players front row grade 3 rear-guards from being chosen by effects while also allowing a chosen rear-guard to [Stand]
and perform drive checks during the battle they attack.
To negate the shortcomings usually associated with playing a deck heavily focused on grade 3 units namely in defense, a large portion of Bastion's support focuses on increasing their own [Shield] values or that of other grade 3 units to improve the decks defensive capabilities, some units even being able to move themselves or other rear-guards from (RC) to (GC). Owing to grade 3 units lacking the ability to Boost and Bastion Prime only being able to [Stand]
grade 3 rear-guards, several of Bastions supporting units are able to gain [Boost]
or bestow the ability to [Boost]
to other grade 3 rear-guards.
