PSY Qualia Battle is the eighteenth chapter of the Cardfight!! Vanguard Manga, first published in Kerokero Ace magazine and later collected in Volume 4.
This chapter was adapted into episode 22 of the Cardfight!! Vanguard V Series anime.
Plot[]
Recalling the words of his abusive father, that he must always be perfect in all things, Ren tells himself that by defeating Kai he has finally attained his long sought-after perfection - or should have. The knowledge that Aichi had already defeated Kai leaves him feeling still incomplete.
Despite almost collapsing under the strain inflicted by the previous battle, Ren demands that Aichi fight him. Aichi says that Kai wasn't the one who was changed by his victory, and that it was in fact him who had his world changed and expanded by that fight. Kai warns him against accepting Ren's challenge, but Miwa urges him on, thinking to himself that perhaps Aichi could help Ren just as he did Kai. Misaki hugs Aichi supportively, and Kamui cheers him on as well.
Aichi is uncertain of his ability to actually end Ren and Kai's feud, but, determined to show Ren how much Kai changed him, he accepts the fight. Ren removes his VF gloves, as they serve no purpose for a battle between two PSY Qualia users. As the fight begins, the two are drawn into an image of an arena on Planet Cray generated by Ren's PSY Qualia, and Ren is pleased that another fighter is actually able to enter his domain.
