Episode 7: The Fearsome Soulblast!

The Fearsome Soulblast! (戦慄のソウルブラスト) is the 7th episode of Cardfight!! Vanguard: Season 1 in the Cardfight!! Vanguard Anime.

Summary[]

Shin introduces the "Standing Fight Table" to enrich the experience of a Vanguard fight, with Morikawa and Kamui being the first to play on it. After Kamui once again beats Morikawa, Aichi and his friends return to their homes but then see Kai walking back to his home. Wanting to learn where Kai lives, Aichi, Kamui, and Miwa try to follow him, but Kai soon notices them tailing him. Aichi apologizes and tries to get Kai to battle him again, but he declines. However, Kamui challenges Kai, and he reluctantly accepts.

The next day, the two commence their cardfight. Kai gains the upper hand by getting a Grade 3 card, Embodiment of Victory, Aleph, into play before Kamui, who counterattacks with his own Grade 3 unit Mr. Invincible. But Kai soon summons another Grade 3 unit Vortex Dragon, and he later activates its Soul Blast skill to destroy some of Kamui's units, leaving Kamui unable to defend himself from Kai's final attacks. Kai defeats Kamui and takes his leave, but not before Aichi tells him that he'll become a stronger and more worthy opponent for him.

He uses Battleraizer's effect and moves him to a rear-guard circle.

He use Screamin' and Dancin' Announcer, Shout's effect and by putting him to rest and dropping one card from his hand, he draws one card. He drops Lucky Girl and draws Clay-doll Mechanic.

He calls another Screamin' and Dancin' Announcer, Shout ,then activates again his effect. He drops Clay-doll Mechanic and draws Brutal Jack.

Kamui ends his turn.

He attacks Screamin' and Dancin' Announcer, Shout with his Rearguard Embodiment of Armor, Bahr (7000 > 8000). Kamui checks for a Damage Trigger. He gets King of Sword (Grade 2/No Trigger/10000 POW). Kamui takes one damage.

He activates Brutal Jack Counterblast of 1, removing its skill Restraint.

He attacks Vanguard Embodiment of Armor, Bahr with Tough Boy (8000 > 8000). Kai checks for a Damage Trigger. He gets Wyvern Strike, Jarran (Grade 1/No Trigger/6000 power). Kai takes one damage.

He attacks his Vanguard Embodiment of Armor, Bahr with Brutal Jack boosted by Battleraizer (14000 > 8000). Because Brutal Jack is boosted by a <Nova Grapler>, by his own skill, it gains + 5000 Power (19000 > 8000), then by returning Battleraizer back into the deck after boosting, he gets + 3000 Power (22000 > 8000). Kai checks for a Damage Trigger. He gets Dragon Dancer, Monica (Grade 0/Draw Trigger/5000 POW). He gives the power to Vanguard Bahr and draws a card. Kai takes 1 one damage.

He activates Aleph Counterblast of 1, and by putting Tahr and Bahr to his Soul, he Superior Rides Embodiment of Victory, Aleph (Grade 3/No Trigger/10000 POWr).

He calls Flame of Hope, Aermo (Grade 1/No Trigger/6000 POW), Dragon Knight, Nehalem (Grade 2/No Trigger/10000 POW) and Wyvern Guard, Barri (Grade 1/No Trigger/6000 POW).

He attacks Vortex Dragon with Brutal Jack boosted by Screamin' and Dancin' Announcer, Shout (18000 > 10000). Kai checks for a Damage Trigger. He gets Dragon Dancer, Monica (Grade 0/Draw Trigger/5000 POW) and gives + 5000 Power to Vortex Dragon (15000 POW), then draws a card. Kai damage becomes 5.

He activates Vortex Dragon Megablast and retires 3 of Kamui units (King of Sword, Brutal Jack, and Tough Boy).

He attacks Mr. Invincible with Dragon Knight, Nehalem boosted by Wyvern Guard, Barri (10000 > 16000). Kamui checks for a Damage Trigger. He gets Screamin' and Dancin' Announcer, Shout (Grade 1/No Trigger/7000 POW). Kamui takes one damage.

Vortex Dragon's Mega Blast requires both 8 cards from the soul and 5 unflipped damage to be in effect. Although Kai does have 5 damage, he does not use them at all and the effect still goes through. This lead to players wondering why the effect was different on the card than what is shown in the anime.
