Cardfight!! Vanguard Wiki

Gastille (ガスティール Gasutīru) is a character in Cardfight!! Vanguard G, introduced in Cardfight!! Vanguard G: NEXT. He is one of the Apostles who uses the Dark Zone Zeroth Dragon, Zeroth Dragon of End of the World, Dust. He is the leader of Relics and the Apostles, and acts as the direct link to Dragon Deity of Destruction, Gyze. His host was Arte Hibino.

Appearance[]

His body and clothing bears a small resemblance to the Dark Irregulars clan emblem, with stylized wings and multiple cords flared out. He wears a mask that covers up the upper half of his face, leaving only his mouth and chin visible. He has three eyes on the left side of his chestpiece, as well as on both sides on the bottom of his coat. The cords attached to his coat have crystals on the ends. He has four hands, each with four fingers, and his skin is a pale white. His wings and ensemble are mostly a single shade of navy with a few light blue accents on his coat and in the crystals. He also has long boots that seem to have eyes on them as well. He has a small tricorne hat.

Personality[]

Gastille is very loyal to Dragon Deity of Destruction, Gyze, being one of his three original Apostles. He considers himself Gyze's bishop, and wishes to bring Gyze back to destroy the world. Gastille is also very manipulative, telling lies (as he did with Shiranui by saying Vanguard was distorting Planet Cray's fate) or using the truth (revealing to Chrono Shindou that the Diffrider conflict was all due to him) to get others to play into his hands and bring the Apostles' objective of reviving Gyze even closer.

He is rather calm and accepting of defeats, showing no sign of worry when Relics was destroyed nor when Dumjid was defeated and his Zeroth Dragon taken. His calmness and acceptance of defeat even roots down to the point of being heartless, showing no sign of care towards the defeats of Gredora and Dumjid, and lethally tormenting Kouji Ibuki using his power, enhanced by Gyze's blessing.

History[]

Gastille is the leader of the hellish dimension Relics, and is also the bishop of Dragon Deity of Destruction, Gyze.  He plans to resurrect Gyze and wipe out all of existence as per his god's will.  While on Cray, he influenced Shiranui by making him believe that the card game Vanguard was controlling their destinies and gave him the Eye of Dominion to better serve his plans. Sometime after the Stride Gate incident, Gastille forcibly Diffriden Arte Hibino and began his work to resurect his God the Dragon Deity of Destruction, Gyze and started by creating a team of his own called the Apostles.  His plan was to have one unit from each nation follow suit.  He would form this team with Gredora of Megacolony, Valeos of Aqua Force, and Shiranui of the Nubatama, each one with a single mission: to find a suitable vessel for their master Gyze, someone with a pure imagination but one without form so as Gyze could force himself upon the host.  Gastille gave Shiranui another mission which was to find a human who would be compatible and have him/her forcibly Diffriden by Chaos Breaker (to which he did and Chaos Breaker forcibly took over Noa Hoshizaki).  He would later have Chaos Breaker find a host for a United Sanctuary unit that would follow their lead so as to complete their team.  Despite Chaos Breaker finding someone to be Diffriden by Supremacy Dragon, Claret Sword Dragon Revolt, the potential host, Yuichirou Kanzaki, forcibly forced his avatar out of his body with his own will power, leaving them without the Zeroth Dragon of the United Sanctuary temporarily.

He would sit as his home, monitoring the other Apostles as they searched for candidates.  Sometime after the U20, Dumjid would approach him in the hopes of being named an Apostle so as he could fulfill his own desire to wipe out humanity.  Without a Dragon Empire unit on their side, he gave Dumjid the right to be named an Apostle and soon enacted his plan to revive their master despite having only a few pieces on the board in their favor.  He sent out Chaos Breaker to fight any of the participants in the U20 who managed to defeat a Diffriden human, which were ChronoTaiyouKazumaHenri, and Rin (to which Chaos Breaker managed to defeat everyone but Henri as he never approached him in time) and sent out Dumjid to distract the Vanguard Association while they were collecting human souls to power the Relics.

While in Relics, he introduced himself to Chrono and Tsuneto (who fell into the spacial hole that was created when Chrono lost to Chaos Breaker) and explained what their intentions were and that the markings on their hand were the key to Gyze's revival. Shortly after this however, everyone fought the illusions created by the Relic's defense system and managed to break the prison open to save everyone held captive.  He cared not for this development however, with Relics serving its purpose for the time being.  Later, he would give Dumjid and Gredora their respective nation's Zeroth Dragon Cards, Drachma and Zoa and instructed them to do what they needed to do to wake the cards up.  Despite their amazing power, Dumjid was defeated by Tokoha (losing Drachma in the process) and Kamui overcame Gredora's skills and sent her back to Cray but Gastille was not worried or concerned as he saw them as pawns in the overall scheme.

Gastille had his own role in the plan to revive his master and that was to incapacitate Messiah and their vanguard, Ibuki. Having been granted a special blessing from Gyze to be able to transport them to another dimension where he could make full use of his powers despite being Diffriden, Gastille engaged Ibuki in a cardfight where each damage to Ibuki would cause chains on his heart to choke and if he lost, those chains would crush his heart. As Ibuki was close to death, they were found by Chrono, and Chrono continued to battle in Ibuki's stead, using his deck and managed to defeat Gastille. Surprising the duo, Gastille also considered himself to be a pawn, and gracefully accepted his defeat, but not before telling Chrono and Ibuki that even without him in this world, it will be destroyed. After his Diffride broke, his subordinate, Valeos assumed control of the remaining Earth-based Apostles.
