Maki Nagashiro is a character in Cardfight!! Vanguard (V Series Anime). She is a first year at Miyaji Academy High School, and the secretary of the school's Student Council. She seemingly has feelings for the delinquent Naoki Ishida. Due to her excellent grades in Middle School, she was selected to be the secretary when she moved to High School.

Appearance[]

She has violet red hair that is tied in a ponytail in the back, with two long bangs in the front. She has rectangular glasses and red eyes.

She wears the Miyaji Academy female uniform.

Personality[]

Much like her original counterpart, she's quite reserved and does things by the book.  Her diligence is what caused her to notice the missing name on the register sheet for the Vanguard Club.

Despite her being for the Student Council, once she played against Naoki, it's revealed that she has not only played Vanguard before, but also loves it.

History[]

It's established that she is the youngest member of the student council, as well as the only freshman that's been part of it due to her graduating at the top of her class and Tatewaki scouting her skills for his Council.  Once she became the Secretary, she took her job seriously looking out for the students, including Naoki Ishida.  She grew concerned for him being too different from everyone else in school; however, she was shocked to see that he finally started making friends.  She found out that it was through Vanguard that Ishida began to change and she decided to give it a try.  Since then, during her free time, she's learned to play the game and become quite good at it.

Aside from helping to establish the club at the beginning of the High School Arc, her role is downplayed until after the events of the Destiny Conductor VS Aichi Sendou for the sake of the worlds.  Once time is rewritten and she overlooks the register forum they used, she is quick to inform Tatewaki about this and begins to aid in the disbandment of the Club.  Misaki eventually points out that despite their only being four names on the forum, the Student Council President's personal seal was used to approve of the club and therefore would ruin his reputation if he forcefully disbanded them after approving them.  Misaki lays her terms clear to the group: A 3 VS 3 Showdown between the Vanguard Club and the Student Council President, and Eru Nakagami who barges in with his demand that if the Vanguard Club loses then they join his Psychic Research Club.  Tatewaki agrees and Maki begins tutoring him and Itsuki about the innerworkings of Vanguard.

Her teaching style too strict, Tatewaki seeks Aichi to teach him and the rest of the Student Council how to play Vanguard.  She participates, helping Itsuki, playing the match, and Tatewaki learn a bit more about the cards he's pulled and explains some strategies to him.  Eventually Tatewaki tells Aichi to allow both of them to use their abilities and Itsuki is about to claim victory until Aichi manages to block and overturn the match in his favor and wins.  They all agree then to meet at a later date for the match that would decide the fate of the Vanguard Club.

The day of the match between the Student Council and the Vanguard club begins as Maki volunteers to battle fo their side first.  She greets Naoki, who seems to show a bit of disrespect since she seems to be looking down on them.  She comes back with that she only wants to maintain order and discipline at the Academy and they proceed to battle.  Naoki eventually realizes that she's really good at the game and must have been playing for a while.  She tries to hide her embarrassment, and says that it has nothing to do with him.  Naoki rebutes that it does and that he can tell she loves Vanguard and invites her to join them to which she blushes and resumes the match, putting Naoki on the ropes until he manages to not only turn it around in his favor, but wins the match.  He then apologizes to Maki for calling her an amatuer and asks that they play again some day.  Naoki had referred to her as just the secretary, so Maki then introduced herself to him and shook hands.  She then witnesses the last two matches of the battle, both of which they lost, leaving the Vanguard Club the winners, getting not only to keep their club, but also recruit the Student Council as well as Eru into the club.

After the battle, she shares her concerns about why the club was even approved after having only four signatures, something that should have been easy to spot.  She then points out that the picture that the original members took to commemerate the occassion of establishing their clubs looks as if five people were fit in the frame, but there is only four members.  Eru goes into talking about the world line and how something must have happened to change time, but everyone ignored this and focused on the club's goal to win the Vanguard Koshien.
