Hey, saw your post saying you had a sneak peak in Manchester. I'm a student here and wanted to go back to the game but don't know which local card shop to go to. How's the community here? Is VG popular?
I wasn't a recurring person in the Manchester scene. Went once a year for the three years I studied at Chester. Every time I went though, I went to a little place near the Manchester Piccadilly station called Fanboy 3. They have a website with their releases and they sell a lot of stuff.
The community is pretty cool. There are some really nice guys and girls there, going there for mini tournaments and the like. At the end of a sneak peek, everyone either signs up for a repeat or begins trading. Managed to find my first Mystique Luquier there and anyone who knows me knows I like the THorns. You might get someone with a stick up their backside but most of them are cool.
The last time I was there, I placed second in a BT07 event since I was the luckiest guy and pulled the only heal in the set but wa gradelocked in the final match. The guy was good, I give him credit for that at least. However, before the event, I played an Overlord player with my Pacifica deck which I only had one perfect guard for. Both times I lost by deckout. However, instead of rubbing my face in it, my opponent and the spectators commented on how they hadn't seen a Pacifica player and were impressed.
There's a lot of veterans there but they always seemed like a nice crowd. All I can say is good luck, check out the schedule on their site and have a good time.
