Paralyze (パラライズ Pararaizu) is an official term which refers to preventing the paralyzed unit being unable to [Stand] during its owner's stand phase, as well as one of the main mechanics in the Megacolony clan. While the mechanic itself has been used since Booster Set 2: Onslaught of Dragon Souls, the term was introduced by Morris Pennyworth in Cardfight!! Vanguard: Legion Mate.

In Cardfight!! Vanguard ZERO, Paralyze is treated as a keyword ability and it works slightly different.

How It Works

Since the paralyzed unit is [Rest], it cannot attack or boost, and if it a vanguard, your opponent cannot drive check. However, your oppponent still may use that unit's abilities, use for cost, as well as call and ride on top of it, etc. For Stride and Ultimate Stride, the G unit will also be [Rest], unless your opponent rides a new unit before Striding.

Giga Paralyze

Cardfight!! Vanguard G introduces a variant known as "Giga Paralyze", which adds an additional ability.

  • On top of the unit being paralyzed, if they are still [Rest] during the end phase, its owner's opponent may draw a card, as well as other effects. An example is Intimidating Mutant, Darkface.

Vanguard ZERO

A paralyzed unit's state is changed to [Rest] (should it not be [Rest] already), and until end of the next turn, it cannot [Stand] nor move, even with card effects.
