"Raizer" (ライザー Raizā) is a series of cards that include "Raizer" in its card name exclusive to the Nova Grappler clan. The first card was introduced in Booster Set 1: Descent of the King of Knights with the sub-clan taking form with Extra Booster: Comic Style Vol. 1. The sub-clan would be re-introduced for the V Premium format with the release of V Booster Set 01: Unite! Team Q4.
Background[]
What is the Raizer Series?
The main concept of the "Raizer" Battleroids and their successors is versatility, so it can by driven by any pilot. The first time they were introduced for live combat was with the BR1-0021, commonly known as "Battleraizer", which has had many successive models. But this flexibility which was an initial concept was removed in the second half of development, as more highly efficient builds were manufactured, resulting in many custom-made vehicles constantly participating in the Nova Grappler league.
Playstyle[]
The most common quality among Raizer units is their penchant to receive additional benefits should another Raizer unit be present in the same column. This can be seen with both Raizer Custom and Hi-powered Raizer Custom who will see their [Power] doubled should Battleraizer be present in the same column. The prime model of the sub-clan, Perfect Raizer differs from other Nova Grappler units of it's time via gaining [Power] for every Raizer card present in the soul and increases it [Critical] if four Raizer cards are present in soul.
The sub-clan would later expand and focus around the Legion mechanic, expanding further on the theme of offering benefits to Raizer units where another Raizer unit is present in the same column such as increased [Power] , the ability to [Stand] rear-guards in the same column or even immunity from being retired by effects. Ultimate Raizer Mega-flare is able to gain an additional [Critical] when it attacks when there are four or more [Rest] units while Ultimate Raizer Dual-flare is able to [Stand] for no cost when the vanguard attacks during the turn where Legion was performed. Further support in G Standard would increase the decks consistency in performing Legion and offering more accessible means to [Stand] the sub-clans rear-guards with the new legion leader, Ultimate Raizer Glory-hand even being able to confer further [Power] to any units that [Stand] .
Introduced early on in V Premium as the forerunner theme of the Nova Grappler clan, the most common quality among Raizer units released during this period is their penchant for gaining skills via placing a card into soul or if a Raizer card is present in soul which can range from [Stand] another rear-guard, searching the deck for a Raizer unit to superior call or even being able to attack during the very first turn of the fight. The sub-clan would take proper shape much later in the series with the release of Ultimate Raizer Mega-flare who not only can [Stand] an attacking Raizer rear-guard several times during the player's turn, but is able to ride Ultimate Raizer Dual-flare from soul for an additional attack, a clear nod to the Legion mechanic.
