Taizo Kiyokura is a character introduced in Cardfight!! Vanguard will+Dress. He is the heir to a construction company "Kiyokura Group" who won the league consecutively. He is also a member of the professional team, Kiyokura ANCHOR BOLT. During Cardfight!! Vanguard will+Dress, he hopes to achieve results in Deluxe to have his father recognize his passion for Vanguard.
In Cardfight!! Vanguard Divinez, he participates in the Fated Clash tournament as the holder of Fated One of Guiding Star, Welstra "Blitz Arms".
Appearance[]
Born in Musashino, Japan. Taizo is a tall male with short black hair and a yellow-colored tuft in front and an undercut at the back of his head. His eyes are heavily defined with very prominent under-eye liner and brownish-yellow colored irises. He wears a long, loose gray coat with gold lining accents and a brown inner lining, and a white shirt with similar gold lining and zippers underneath. He also wears baggy black sweatpants and gray slip-on shoes.
Personality[]
Taizo generally has a very relaxed, charismatic and welcoming personality. This is shown in his very first appearance, in will+Dress Episode 2 where he calms Urara's nerves by welcoming her into Deluxe's waiting room after she anxiously introduces herself. At the beginning of will+Dress Episode 7 and in will+Dress Episode 8, he repeatedly makes friendly conversation with Team Blackout members, despite him being a Front Fighter, and them being Counter Fighters, very unlike the other high ranking Front Fighters participating in the Deluxe tournament.
Alongside his relaxed personality, he also has a competitive side, that shows during his fights and in his interactions with his company members. In Episode 7, when he sits with Raika Koshiba before their fight, he exchanges emails back and forth with a coworker who disagrees with his business proposal, and exclaims out in frustration. Upon seeing this, Raika asks him why he seems so happy, and Taizo responds "Well, it's so fun to compete with people." He is very energetic in his fights, bantering with Raika (in episode 7) and Yu-yu (in episode 8) when they fight.
As the heir to the Kiyokura Group construction company, he is deeply revered by his teammates at Kiyokura Anchor Bolt, who refer to him as "CEO". Despite his position as a boss in the company, he is very humble and sees his teammates as equal allies, stating that he "keeps telling him [his teammate(s)] to stop calling him CEO".
Taizo's fiery passion for Vanguard manifests not only in his fights, but also as a collector. He is shown to get very excited when he receives a new rare card for his collection and carefully organizes them in a binder. His reasons for attending the Deluxe tournament were to meet the esteemed champion, Michiru Hazama, and to prove to his father that he could run a successful Vanguard business by winning the tournament. Although he loses to both Raika and Yu-yu and fails to qualify for the finals, he still smiles, satisfied that he was able to understand others' motivations for fighting better.
History[]
Taizo is the heir to the Kiyokura Group construction company and takes deep pride in his status as a front fighter. He has won numerous corporate tournaments and is a professional, wanting to start his own business with Vanguard. However, his father doubts his abilities, forbidding him to if he is not able to show results and prove it to him by winning the Deluxe tournament. Despite this, Taizo cares deeply about both his company and Vanguard and says that since he is not able to pick one or the other, he must uphold both.
will+Dress Season 1[]
Taizo has been invited by Jinki Mukae as one of the Deluxe tournament participants.
will+Dress D2[]
Taizo has once again been invited by Jinki Mukae as one of the second Deluxe tournament participants. He ranked the 1st Place in Group B, defeating Shinobu Kajita, supposedly Himari Kanoashi and one other fighter in preliminary then Kairo Hayami in quarterfinals and Gui in semifinals. Taizo makes it to the finals, where he loses to Raika Koshiba, making him the Deluxe runner up.
Divinez DELUXE Arc[]
Before Michiru fell into a coma, he and Taizo were not particularly close. Taizo saw Michiru as a goal to surpass, while Michiru merely recognized Taizo as a skilled individual. However, after Michiru woke up, Taizo actively reached out, leading them to start communicating via video calls. This eventually led to their cardfight taking place in America. After that, Taizo gives his Deluxe tournament invite to Erika Myojo, a new trainee in his team "Kiyokura ANCHOR BOLT" to gain experience in a tournament.
