There is no encounter without meaning.

—Takeru Baba, Turn 14

"Takeru Baba" is a side character in Cardfight!! Vanguard G.

Etymology[]

His family name, "馬場" means "Horse-riding ground".

Personality[]

He is a person who likes to challenge himself, in order to get stronger. In order to achieve that, he wandered around the country in order to meet new people as well as learn from their encounter. His catchphrase is "there is no encounter without meaning."

History[]

Anime[]

While he was training by walking upside down by using three fingers, he encountered Chrono, who saved him when he collapsed from hunger. As he requested a (card)fight from Chrono, Chrono declined and ran from him, due to the misunderstanding that Takeru requested a (fist) fight. He pursues Chrono and collapsed for a second time from hunger, to which Chrono brought him to card shop "Fight Space Monja", the place where Chrono should have gone in order to accomplish his quest.

Unexpectedly, they saw Shion in the shop. Both of them watched as Shion fought against many people, one after another. Takeru said that Shion is becoming stronger, while commenting that he has fought Shion before. He also commented that Shion fought while thinking about somebody, before adding that Shion had an encounter that "means enough to him that his heart is strongly affected by it".

Both Takeru and Chrono then proceeded to cardfight against each other, in which Chrono won the game.

Both Takeru and Chrono meet again in Turn 28, where Team TRY3 fought Takeru's team, Team Furaibo (read: Wanderers), in which both of them is paired up against each other. With another heated battle, Chrono turned out to be the winner.
