I have a full cupboard of absolut vodka I've been given because "Awkward pause*...I thought you'd like it !"
Anyway back on topic, I'm hoping Lapis and Peridot get some time to shine and we get a few scenes checking in on beach city overall post timeskip. Also i saw a thumbnail for the poster and i just couldn't help but think it looked like the all mighty corporate mouse of the big D was trying to crush the Gems. Gave me a few good laughs
I am kinda half hoping this is a setup to a new storyline. I’m remembering Venture Brothers and how they used a TV special to get a clean end to the plots that were there since season 1 to then just do a soft reboot in the seasons after with a new setting and new plots.
Indeed. I’d rather the series end on a high note rather than get more seasons just because fans demanded it. The show lives by its tight and interesting storytelling that it’ll be a stain on its legacy if at the end it threw it out the window.
Besides, considering the time slots it’s been given and the fact that many still don’t know it still airs, it probably gets terrible ratings. But I know the merch sells like crazy, so it makes the money it needs to!
It's an interesting discussion considering a certain HBO series that went bad, but I can say for things like game of thrones or Voltron even with bad endings...I can still say overall I enjoyed the series for what they were.
But I can understand different opinions on that matter, either way we can all agree that I hope this movie isn't just to quickly wrap things up
The funny thing is, is that they don’t even need to wrap things up. It was rushed but the last few episodes did that, especially the last part of the final one. Like, there’s literally no plot thread left dangling there, really.
There's still the fact that gem home world is dying (of resources) and that's one of the reasons why they go take over other planets. War on other worlds should still be going on, I believe.
What I expect and what I believe should make the most sense would be the introduction of a new alien threat, a force that will make the earth gems fight together with home world gems. It's up to the writers to allow the enemy to be not completely evil and have their reasons and such.
But before all of that, there's still gem home world aristocrats and earth gems getting along. Massive reconstruction of the gem home world social order. Do all that, then new alien threat.
The first thing that came to mind literally just now is snail-like goo people. This is die to that Hoseki no Kuni episode. XP
I mean, sure? But like, the book has to end at some point, so to speak. If we’re gonna be nitpicking here, then the only way this whole thing can have a clean and clear end is with everyone dying lol. There’s still always stuff left at the end otherwise.
My point is, is that we never got detailed looks at any of that stuff. I mean, sure that can be added in with the theoretical future seasons, but like, the line is going to be drawn someone. My point was, was that it could have been at the end of the last episode and that was the first time that line could have been there and fans would have been okay.
CN had a Steven Universe celebration where they marathoned fan favorite episodes and in the ad breaks they put in the Comic-Con trailer and interviews with fans at CC about what they like about the show it was nice.
They also had Zach Callison talk about the show and he...looks like a Steven Universe fan with those pink highlights in his hair lol. It was adorable.
Yeah, I liked it but I do agree. While they made it clear more fights were to come, there wasn’t really any character development. It came off as a resolution to the main plot, really. Well, that and as a way to get more fans as it actually is a decent starting point for those who don’t mind spoilers to the main plot.
The songs were definitely amazing and the6 need to release that soundtrack already!
