Tohya Ebata is a character in Cardfight!! Vanguard overDress and Cardfight!! Vanguard will+Dress. He is said to be powerhouse fighter opposing Team Blackout. Although later, he was appointed by Danji as the new leader of Team Blackout. A mysterious powerhouse fighter who left behind exceptional records of his unofficial fights. He usually buys cartons.
In Cardfight!! Vanguard will+Dress, he leaves Team Blackout and passes on the role of leader to Yu-yu Kondo to pursue his own goals.
His insert songs are BREAK IT DOWN and Into the Cemetery.
Appearance[]
Tohya has blonde hair which is tied in a ponytail. He wears a white t shirt under a red coat He also wears a red and silver ring left hand and a pendant around his neck.
Personality[]
Tohya is often viewed as a very mature and responsible individual, reflected in his natural inclination to work hard and innovate in both his various odd jobs and his medical studies. He also has a more innocent and childlike side, seen in the similar tastes and preferences in both food and deckbuilding he shares with Yu-Yu. However, after losing to Yu-yu, he becomes a whole new person, not hesitating to burn the banner of other teams. Tohya's sense of responsibility arises again once Danji tasks him with Blackout's leadership. He attempts to singlehandedly take on all of Danji's former responsibilities as well as mending the emotional and physical damage he caused the team, before accepting the support and assistance of those around him. While leading Team Blackout, Tohya still has a habit of spending money as if he is responsible for only himself, most frequently seen as he buys large amounts of cards. This habit extended even after Tohya leaves the team, leading to him frequently being scolded by others to remember to not spend his entire budget on booster pack boxes and cartons.
History[]
Tohya's ambition is to become a doctor. From a young age, he was good at studies and got the top grades in his class. His grandmother gifts him a Vanguard deck on his birthday, saying he should also have fun while studying. He became better at the game with each day and won many shop tournaments, however his parents disregarded that and thought that he should only focus on his studies. After some time, his grandmother fell severely ill and passed away, and he vowed to become a doctor. After he found out about Danji, he became determined on winning against him, as a last wish before quitting Vanguard.
However, his loss against Danji, and later Yu-Yu starts affecting him mentally. Now fueled with hateful conviction, Tohya was goaded by Masanori to utterly crush Team Blackout. Initially, he's able to defeat Megumi and Yu-Yu, and succesfully burned the Team Blackout Banner, much to their grief. Fortunately, Danji manages to arrives and challenged Tohya to a cardfight, resulting in Tohya defeat. They keep cardfighting each other until finally, Tohya manages to win after suffering numerous losses to Danji, with the latter commented that he had become more stable. A satisfied Danji then announces that Tohya is going to replace him as the new Team Blackout leader as form of atonement, much to everyone shock.
