"Placing" refers to the movement a card makes when it enters a public zone on field from a zone outside of the field, such as calling or riding.

Movement between two zones on the field is considered "Moving", not "Placing". Intercepting, for example, is considering "moving".

"Put" is used as a general term. However, it is normally used to refer to:

  • movement between two zones outside of the field (such as from the deck into the hand)
  • movement from the field into a zone outside of the field (such as from a rear-guard circle to the bottom of your deck)
  • putting a card as locked onto the field from outside of the field

Although locked circles are part of the field, they are a hidden zone (meaning only the owner can look at the cards), thus they are "put" onto the field, and not "placed".

Zones that are not part of the field:

Zones that are part of the field:

  • Circle (Vanguard)
  • Circle (Rear-guard)
  • Circle (Guardian)

Depending on the ability, "placing" can refer to either "calling" or "riding". For example:

"AUTO(RC):When placed..."

  • The zone where this ability may activate is the rear-guard circle, so this form of "placing" is achieved by "calling".

"AUTO(GC):When placed..."

  • The zone where this ability may activate is the guardian circle, so this form of "placing" is achieved by "calling".

"AUTO(VC):When placed..."

  • The zone where this ability may activate is the vanguard circle, so this form of "placing" is achieved by "riding".

"AUTO(VC/RC):When placed..."

  • The zones where this ability may activate is the rear-guard circle and the vanguard circle, so this form of "placing" is achieved by either "calling" or "riding".
