The Basics

Characters

Naito Sakaki

Reaching into the depths of despair, only to pull out a last-second miracle! Stil Vampir! Ride!

As a rebellious fourteen year old, Naito Sakaki only wished for an escape from his boring life. One night, during a meteor shower, he got his wish. His innermost desires manifested into the Dark Irregulars clan. With his newfound avatar, Naito wants to explore the limits of this new world of Vanguard.

Naito's ace unit is Stil Vampir, a unit capable of surprising the opponent with a devastating special attack!

Takuya "Rex" Kido

Thunder forth across the fields of war! Raging Dragon, Blastsaurus!

Where Naito is full of heart and energy, Rex is full of logic and patience. He's always trying to keep his friends, Naito and Anna, out of trouble. He was confused on the night of the meteor shower, when he received his Tachikaze deck, but now is beginning to embrace the unpredictable nature of the world.

Rex's ace unit is Raging Dragon, Blastasaurus, a unit that takes advantage of amassing many equip gauges at once!

Anna Hinanawi

Justice never sleeps! It is a roaring wave of endless passion! Ride! Last Card, Revonn!

A rowdy fourteen year old girl with a thirst for adventure and a quest for justice. Her inner nature manifested on the night of the meteor shower in the form of the Aqua Force clan. Now, she's learning how to become a true hero.

Anna's ace unit is Last Card, Revonn, a unit that weakens the opponent's vanguard and takes advantage of multiple powerful attacks!

Satoshi Iwaya

Tear apart your enemies from within! That is the true key to victory! I ride True Demonic Rifle Rogue, Gunningcoleo!

A psychology student and hobbyist inventor at a prestigious university, Satoshi has been tasked by a government agency and a mysterious benefactor to study this new game, Vanguard. He has received a Megacolony deck from the mysterious benefactor, and is interested in learning more about its origins.

Satoshi's ace unit is True Demonic Rifle Rogue, Gunningcoleo, a unit which can throw off the opponent's strategy by milling cards from the deck!

Plenty more characters will be revealed later, but shh! Spoilers!

Card Reveals

For this series, since I wanted to explore the very beginnings of Vanguard within the context of the V Series, I needed to impose some restrictions on myself.

  • 12 clans exist, instead of 24
  • No Gift II
  • No Order cards
  • No Draw PGs

With these restrictions in mind, I'd like to introduce some new cards that will be seen in this series. One card per clan that I've talked about already.


Stil Vampir (V Series)

  • Dark Irregulars/Vampire
  • Grade 3/12000 Power
  • Protect

[CONT](VC):If you Soul Charge (3) or more during your turn, this unit gets [Power]+10000.
[ACT](VC)1/Turn:COST [Soul Blast (10)], until end of turn, six of your units get [Power]+5000, and for the battle this unit attacked, your opponent cannot call sentinels to (GC) from hand.


Raging Dragon, Blastsaurus (V Series)

  • Tachikaze/Dinodragon
  • Grade 3/12000 Power
  • Accel

[CONT](VC):All of your rear-guards with three or more equipped gauge cannot be chosen by your opponent's card effects.
[ACT](VC):COST [Counter Blast (1)], put the top card of your deck under one of your rear-guards as an equip gauge for that unit, and that unit gets [Power]+5000 until end of turn.


Battleship Dragon, Phase Pulse Dragon

  • Aqua Force/Battle Cruiser
  • Grade 3/12000 Power
  • Accel

[AUTO](RC)1/Turn:At the end of the battle that this unit attacked, if it is the third or fourth battle this turn, COST [Counter Blast (1) & discard a card from your hand], [Stand] this unit, and it gets [Power]+30000/Critical+1 until end of turn.
[AUTO](RC):At the end of your turn, if this unit attacked two or more times this turn, retire this unit.


Fury Blade Mutant, Arcadia Beetle

  • Megacolony/Insect
  • Grade 2/9000 Power/5000 Shield

[AUTO](VC/RC):When placed, COST [Soul Blast (1)], put the top card of your opponent's deck into the drop zone, and if it is a grade 1 or lower, this unit gets [Power]+5000 until end of turn.
[ACT](RC):COST [Counter Blast (1) & Soul Blast (1)], your opponent reveals five cards from the top of his or her deck, choose one card from among them, shuffle the remaining cards into your opponent's deck, and put the chosen card on the top of your opponent's deck. This ability can only be used by a card with the same name once per turn.
