"To put it simply, this blog post is about the upcoming smartphone game, 'Tales of Crestoria'. This game is planned to be launched in June, 2020 in English and Japanese, but not sure if they are launched in the same date and/or same server."

"Ah, mama. I'm just trying to share with everyone here about 'Tales of Crestoria'."

"'Tales of Crestoria'? The new smartphone game from Tales series that is going to be launched soon?"

"Yes, as expected of mama, you know this game."

"But I only know the name..."

"Oh, then, I will explain a few about this game to mama and everyone else!"
"It's about the journey of the main characters after they committed sins."

"Committed sins!? Are they evil characters or something?"
Azemiel
"In Crestoria's world, every people wears something called vision orb. The vision orb allows people to vote whether a person is guilty or not after he or she committed a grave crime. They can actually see when the crime are commited through the vision orb."

"That sounds like streaming public videos in the Internet... So they have some kind of network in that vision orb."
Azemiel
"Probably. The main characters had committed crimes in order to protect. So they might be guilty in the eyes of others since the others only seen them commiting the crime, but not everything that actually happened."
アゼム
"I see... So the story is a whole new story then?"
Azemiel
"Yes, the story is originally Tales of Crestoria's, but, the characters will also include characters from other Tales series."
アゼム
"Other Tales series!? So it'll be a crossover game again?"
Azemiel
"Yeah, but in the game, they are treated as rather people who originally live in that world instead of came from other world."
アゼム
"Ooh. That's kinda interesting. I wonder how will the character will fit in with their new history."
Azemiel
"We can find it out once the game is officially launched."
"So far, we are told to have 6 main characters: Kanata Hjuger, the protagonist. Misella, most likely the heroine. Vicious, can also said to be the character that had big impact to the main characters."
Azemiel
"The other three are Aegis Alver, Yuna Azetta, Orwin Granberg. These three are still remain unknown for me though because I did not yet went through their story."

"Oh, you played the β test?"
Azemiel
"Yes I did, but not for long, so I don't have much to share about the story. However, I have some others to share. I'll talk about it later."
アゼム
"Okay. So, are these 6 main characters are voted as guilty?"
Azemiel
"Yes, except for Vicious. I said Vicious is the character that had a big impact to the main characters right? Actually, Vicious are the one who gave the other main characters power."
アゼム
"Power? What kind of power? Why would they need power though?"
Azemiel
"When people are voted for guilty via the vision orb, they are called 'transgressors'. Once a person becomes a transgressors, his or her vision orb changed to some sort of symbol printed into a part of their body, which becomes the proof that he or she is a transgressor."
Azemiel
"So Vicious, who are also called 'The Great Transgressor', turned this printed symbol into 'blood sins', giving the transgressors the power to fight against the 'enforcers'."

"Enforcers? What's that?"
Azemiel
"Enforcers are the ones who punish transgressors. They keep chasing the trangressors, so Kanata and the others need the power to fight against trangressors."
アゼム
"Wow... so they keep chasing Kanata's party? That's some dedication."
Azemiel
"The enforcers might not be human, as what I can see from the official videos, so they might keep chasing endlessly."
"So we know briefly about the story, but the system, the most important thing! How does it look like?"
Azemiel
"Okay, let's talk about it then. First: the battle system! It's... Turn-based command battle!"
アゼム
"Turn based!? That's kinda surprising."
Azemiel
"Well, it's smartphone game, so I'm not surprised then it's different than the mothership title."
アゼム
"But, we have Tales of the R--"
Azemiel
"Let's talk more about the battle system!"
アゼム
"O-okay..."
Azemiel
"So we know it's a turn based command battle, but there might be some differences comparing to the ones we played before. First, the it's turn based, but it always going to start with the player side first, and you can choose which character to act first."
アゼム
"Ooh, so no agility based on which goes first. That's nice."
Azemiel
"And so far, a character can only act by 1) using their normal attack, 2) artes and mystic artes."
Azemiel
"They have mystic artes for the characters in the game. Ah, before I forgot to say, the game is in 3D, so you can enjoy the beautifulness of the 3D graphics."
アゼム
"Oh yeah, I saw them in 3D. I like it! I also saw how great the 3D graphics is for the game."
Azemiel
"Yes, and the mystic arte? Every of them has its own sequence, and it looks very amazing."
アゼム
"Yeah, I saw that! Every of them looks fantastic!"
Azemiel
"But the mystic arte cannot be used at the beginning of the battle. Each mystic arte have its own gauge, which is called Overlimit Gauge, and the gauge is filled by doing other actions. It deals a lot of damage once it's used!"
アゼム
"Overlimit gauge! They also use that system in here! I'm kinda excited about that!"
"So, this battle system is only used in solo quests?"
Azemiel
"Other than solo quests, you have Arena and Raid."
アゼム
"Arena...? That sounds like..."
Azemiel
"PvP."
アゼム
"I-I see..."
Azemiel
"The PvP's battle system works almost the same as solo quests. Just that you're fighting against the similar party as yours."
Azemiel
"Also, Raid. Raid is the battle against one strong enemy. The battle works the same, but you will have other comrades fighting with you but just in a separated place. "
アゼム
"Ah, that kind of raids. Something I'm familliar with. That's good to know."
Azemiel
"I didn't experience the raid in the β test, so I can't talk about it that much how it looks like, but there is a video from the offical Twitter! So we can have a guess how it looks like in the real game."
アゼム
"So, other than these 3, are there any other battle modes?"
Azemiel
"Not that I know."
アゼム
"I wished they had multiplayer where each player control each character and battle in the same party..."
Azemiel
"Yeah, I wish they do that in the future. I also enjoy that kind of multiplayer."
"Like other smartphone RPGs, the game have a home menu. In the home menu, players can access to other menu like characters, library, guild, friends, etc."

"Guild? They have a guild system!? I like this game already... We can play together as the same guild members! I wonder what we can do in a guild though..."
Azemiel
"I didn't get the chance to explore it during the β test, so I don't really know how it differs from a common guild system. One of them are probably raids, but not sure."
アゼム
"We'll check that during the official service launch. I hope creating one doesn't cost too much."
Azemiel
"Speaking of guilds, there is also a chat system. There are global chat, guild chat and some others."
アゼム
"Chat in the game? Hmm... I found that not important recently since we have SNS, like Discord, but having one doesn't hurt I guess, and you can chat immediately in the game, which also include with any people currently that game."

"There are missions feature too, where tasks that are given to players and rewards are given after they are finished. Daily, limited, etc."

"Yes, one of the essential things in this kind of game, since the rewards are usually helping the players to upgrade their party."
Azemiel
"Oh, there's a timebox too."
アゼム
"T-timebox? What's that? Can't imagine just from the name..."

"It's basically contain the rewards that are given to players daily after fixed amount of time. From the β test, there are up to five rewards from the timebox every day. The first one was immediately available to be taken after logging in, if I'm not mistaken. Players have to wait for the next ones though."

"What? They have that kind of system? Where people have to stay login and wait for the reward? Uwah... That system is kinda troublesome though."
Azemiel
"Yeah, something like that, but from what I see, players don't have to stay login to wait for the next reward. Just take the current reward, and the countdown for the next reward starts and didn't stop even if the player isn't logging in the game."

"Really!? That's better! I'm sure not everyone going to have time and battery for their device to stay login for long..."
Azemiel
"Yeah, but you need to take the reward or else the countdown for the next one won't start."
"Summons, in other words, gacha is available in this game."
アゼム
"As expected. Well, it's kinda obvious anyway and I'm not complaining."
Azemiel
"You will get memoria stones from summons."
アゼム
"Memoria stones? Are they characters?"
Azemiel
"Memoria stones are used as equipments. They provide passive skills and additional status when equipped."
Azemiel
"What I know, memoria stones have three rarities, from the lowest: R, SR and SSR. When a player got a SR or a SSR memoria stone, the character will be unlocked, making them playable for the player. Unfortunately, the character will not be unlocked for R."

"Aww... That's unfortunate for R."
Azemiel
"But since many Tales characters are going to be playable in this game, I believe every character will, at least, have a SR memoria stone, so players will be able to use all of the playable characters."
アゼム
"I can take that as a good news. I believe there are some people who like certain Tales characters and want to use those characters instead."
アゼム
"Hmm... That makes me think, what's the advantage if a player got the same memoria stones? "
Azemiel
"Good question there, mama, but let's talk about the characters and memoria stones first that players are going to use in the game."
"Both memoria stones and characters have four common status: Main level, HP, ATK and DEF."
アゼム
"Simple. I like it. Some games sometime have more than those, it's sometime complicated to upgrade."
Azemiel
"By increasing their levels, the status HP, ATK and DEF will increase too. That leads to the question on how to increase their level. There are two ways: 1) Clearing a quest 2) Consuming items"
Azemiel
"Memoria stone and character require different type of items to level up, so no need to worry on deciding which to use on."
Azemiel
"Other than the main level, they also have levels for others. For characters, arte skill level, where increasing it will increase the strength of that arte. A character may have more than one arte, which mostly based on their rarity."
Azemiel
"For memoria stones, memoria skill level. Increasing it will increase the strength of that skill. So far, I only know that a memoria stone only have one memoria skill."

"I like how there are many ways to make our party stronger."
Azemiel
"About mama's question for getting the same memoria stones, there are actually advantages to that."
Azemiel
"Characters can be awakened to increase their status, as well increase the level of their mystic arte and unlock a passive skill. The memoria stones can be ascended to increase their status and their main level limit."
Azemiel
"Both awakening characters and ascending memoria stones require the same memoria stones. So you can still make use of the duplicated memoria stones to make your party even stronger."
アゼム
"Ooh... I guess first few duplicates won't hurt then!"
Azemiel
"And there is one more way for each character and memoria stone to become stronger. Ascension for the character and adorning for the memoria stone."
Azemiel
"Ascending a character will increase their main level limit by consuming materials that drops in the quests. Ascending a memoria stone will increase its HP, ATK and DEF according to the materials that are used and these materials are said to drop in guild quests."

"Moving into party! A party can consist up to 6 characters, where 4 of them are the main members, which join the battle at the start of battle, while the other 2 are the sub members, who replace main members during the battle when they got defeated."

"That's kinda nice. At least the number of attacks won't decrese even if two of the party members got defeated."
Azemiel
"Each character can be equipped with a memoria stone, and the character will get additional status and memoria skill from the memoria stone. There are also sub stone slots, which can be equipped with up to 9 memoria stones, boosting the whole party members the status of the memoria stones in sub stone slots."
アゼム
"That means, the more memoria stone we got, the stronger our party."
Azemiel
"Also, both characters and memoria stones have element and type. Element is for the same as commonly used elemental relationships, while type is for the memoria stones. Some skill from memoria stones only affect the same type as theirs."
アゼム
"Wait, does that means you can equip memoria stones of a character to another character too?"
Azemiel
"Yes, though it wouldn't make that much difference because a character is unlocked when the player gets a SR or SSR memoria stone, so the character is most likely equipped with that memoria stone anyway, unless the player is desperate to use the memoria stone for materials instead."

"Aww... But I'll just try to see different combinations."
Azemiel
"Other than from summons, a player can also get a memoria stone from quest rewards, but not sure whose memoria stone and what rarity for it."
アゼム
"Hmm... I bet it'll be the main characters? As we proceed the story."
Azemiel
"It'll be likely the main characters, and probably the key characters, who are other Tales characters appearing in the main story as important characters."
"The quests are separated by stages. Players will consume AP, which commonly known as stamina, to enter a stage."
アゼム
"So they're using stamina system. I guess that limits how many we can play one time."
Azemiel
"But a player have their own level. It will increase after doing some amount of quests, and the AP will recover every time the level increased."
アゼム
"Oh. Usually early level increased faster. I believe we can do many quests in first few levels."
Azemiel
"In main quests, there are stages that don't require to consume BP since they only show the story. You can enjoy the story there, or you can skip it, where later, you can view the story again by just entering the same stage."
アゼム
"Wow, I like how they separated the story and battle part."
Azemiel
"I'm not sure all of the story and battle part are separated in stages though. Also, there are other quests than main story such as experience and gald quests."
アゼム
"It's what I call daily quests."
Azemiel
"They give items that are useful to upgrade the characters and memoria stones."
"I've mentioned library before, which means the record of past Tales works. In there, players can view like the chronology for the series, the character profiles and others."
アゼム
"Really!? Never thought they'd put that in Crestoria... I guess they wanted to make the game as a source for a record of Tales series?"
Azemiel
"I guess so. It's also interesting to have access to this kind of things in the game although they are not directly related to Crestoria."
Azemiel
"Also, attachment feature is available in this game."
アゼム
"Attachment? Like the accessory for the characters in the mothership title?"
Azemiel
"Yeah. It's funny how they have afro in the list."
アゼム
"Why afro...?"
Azemiel
"Not sure... but it's funny, I guess that matters."
アゼム
"But it's fun though if a character can be customized to an extent so they can look different than the same character other players have."
Azemiel
"That sounds nice. The outfits can be changed too, but not sure how to obtain the additional outfits."

"Ooh! I'd really like to see that for my characters!"

"I'm not sure in the offical service launch, but character select ticket was available at the start of the game."

"What's that?"

"By using that ticket, players can choose any of the SR or SSR memoria stones in the list. There are lot of different characters, so I think players will be happy if their favorite character is one of them."

"Ooooh...! OOOOH!!! That's really nice! But, why are there SR too...?"
Azemiel
"Not every character have SSR memoria stones currently. I guess it'll take time for every character to have SSR memoria stones."
アゼム
"Aww... can't be helped. There are many playable characters in Tales series so I can understand that."

"But the number of SSR memoria stones might increase in the official service launch compare to β test."
アゼム
"I hope so, so that everyone will be satisfied with their favorite character having a SSR memoria stone."

"Hmm... What else... Oh, there is also exchange menu, where you exchange things for rewards. I remember that there one for PvP currency. They have SSR rewards in the list."

"SSR rewards... in the PvP exchange... that doesn't sound good."

"Let's hope it won't be something like forcing players to be able to exchange those SSR memoria stones."
